Hi! I’m Dr. Marina Capella. I’m a pediatrician (a doctor for kids) currently living and working in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Becoming a pediatrician took a long time, but I love working with kids and helping them live their best lives. All those years of school were worth it! In case you’re wondering what my credentials are, here’s a summary:

  • I have a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Stanford University.

  • I have an M.D. from UC San Diego School of Medicine.

  • I have a Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

  • I completed my residency training in pediatrics at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.

  • I am board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and am a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

I have many years of experience working with children since finishing my training.

  • I was a general pediatrician at a community health center in San Diego.

  • I worked occasional shifts in the emergency department at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.

  • I have worked in pediatric urgent care clinics for Intermountain Healthcare in the Salt Lake valley.

I am a strong believer in evidence-based medicine — including things like vaccinations and medications — and I also like to take a holistic approach to health. I believe in the power of good nutrition, physical activity, healthy relationships, and good mental habits to help people achieve optimal health.

I also have additional education and training in integrative medicine modalities, including:

  • Clinical Hypnotherapy

  • Myofascial Release Therapy

  • Herbal Remedies & Supplements

I spent most of my life in California but relocated to Utah a few years ago. I was worried I would miss the ocean, but the mountains and the people have won my heart!

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband as well as my spoiled house rabbits and rescue chickens. I love gardening, running, sewing, podcasting, and learning new things. I also enjoy mentoring students who want to become doctors and teaching medical students locally. I helped found a non-profit called Future Minority Doctor to help inspire BiPOC college students to become doctors.

I love being a pediatrician, and I can’t wait to meet you and find out how we can work together toward your family’s optimal health!
